I’m back from the mountains of Virginia. 😦 I want to go back and stay there permanently. On a good note a store on main street told me to send them my resume for consideration when they decide to hire some new people. I’m so excited! If you all want to go check out their website head on over to http://www.willowsstar.com. They are a herb & holistic health shop and let me tell you the homemade soaps they sell are awesome. I bought a lilac soap and an acne fighting soap.
Anyway, Saturday my sister and I hung out with our cousins at the Smoke on the Mountain Barbecue Competition and then we went to help set up for the family reunion on Sunday.
Sunday we did nothing but go to the Family Reunion.
Monday was a day to do all the last minute shopping and travel home. We went down to fancy gap to buy what we had though was a bird bath and didn’t find out it wasn’t until we got home. If you have any suggestions on how to make it work as a bird bath they would be most appreciated.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were used to try and catch up on homework and get back in the swing of things at the house. Today is probably the first day I have had to actually sit down and write this post. I promise that I will sit down and write my Erin Condren Life Planner review this weekend. I think it will be better now because i have had some time to use it and customize it. I also have a gardening post on deck for this week. So excite!
I sit here tonight after a relaxing swim in the hotel pool. It was my reward for finishing so many homework assignments today. I thought I would give you all an update on my family and I’s adventures so far.
TUESDAY: We didn’t leave until about 3 that afternoon. We made it to Winchester by 7:30 I believe. The drive wasn’t very eventful but we did get to stop at our favorite rest area. The benches at this place are amazingly comfortable for being concrete and stone. They just form really well to large posteriors I guess. Anyway moving on. We ate at the Golden Corral and stayed the night at the Travelodge. I know, *yawn*
WEDNESDAY: We went to this little farm stand and got AMAZING blackberry preserves. Then we headed on down the road to Roanoke. After lunch mom and I decided we wanted to go to Virginia Tech to hit the college store and ended up taking a detour into downtown Roanoke.
That was fun. *sarcasm* Finally we made it to VT, I can never believe how massive their football stadium is. It’s just huge! I was finally able to get a somewhat decent picture of me with the VT shrubs. I have been trying to do that for ages.
Once we get off 81 onto 100 south we decide to go check out the Foster Falls cemetery and visit some deceased relatives. Apparently, the road to get there is this winding stone road barely big enough for two cars to pass that cuts through and over the mountain to get there. There were some nice views but gosh was it nerve wracking at points. I should say that there were no guardrails on this road so there was nothing there to stop us from tumbling down the mountain if we had lost control around a turn. Once we arrived, the views from the cemetery were beautiful.
It is definitely a prime candidate for final resting places.
THURSDAY: Today we didn’t do much of anything. We did go to Pulaski county to do some genealogical research. Well mom did. I did sociology homework. Bleh. I wish I had taken pictures of the views on top of the mountain on the way there. You can see for miles.
I hope you are all having wonderful Summers. Stay tuned for my next Vacation post.
I can hardly believe that this Tuesday, my mother, sister, and I will be leaving to make our way to Southwestern Virginia for 6 days of pure mountain bliss. I can hardly wait but at the same time I am stressing over all the things we still need to do before we leave. We go down every year for a family reunion. Good food, good music, great friends and family.
Another of my favorite activities while we are down there is the Smoke on the Mountain Festival. It’s a BBQ competition that happens every year the same weekend we are down there. The pork is AMAZING!!!
I know this post is pretty short. I plan on posting again soon with photos and a review of my new 2015/2016 Erin Condren Life Planner. I cannot wait for you to see it.
