It occurred to me the other day that not enough people utilize Community College in order to pursue their education. Regardless of your ability to pay for school, Community College is a great place to continue education. Everyone goes through a period where they completely bomb a semester of school. Many of us change our majors, sometimes more than once. The logical thing to do would be to go to a less expensive school. The following is a list of reasons Community College is the best place to start.
- Community College is less expensive.
- You have a better opportunity to explore different majors and career paths.
- You can get most, if not all, of your General Education Courses out of the way before you Transfer to a 4-year school. (if that’s your plan)
- If you don’t plan on continuing to a 4-year institute, you can still earn an Associate’s degree in as little as 2 years’ full time.
I know going to community college was a great decision for me because I failed my first full time semester as well as changed my major. I graduated from Universal Technical Institute supposedly knowing exactly what I was going to do in life and started a full time semester that fall. That was in 2013. I failed that first semester Miserably because I stopped going. Many of my classes pertained to my previous major and they just weren’t what I wanted. The harsh reality hit me. The thing I spent the majority of my life working towards, wasn’t the thing I REALLY wanted to do in life and the thing I spent a long time saying I would never do, I plan on doing. Community college has allowed me to change the path I have chosen with minimal setbacks and academic damage. While failing and being put on academic probation was probably the worst feeling but it could have been a whole lot worse. Anyway, this is just one of my many opinions regarding school. Have any of you had something like this happen? Do you guys agree or disagree? I would love to hear everyone’s story and/or take on this topic.
Sorry I have been M.I.A. lately. I have been trying to catch up on homework and get back on track at school. Not too much has been happening out of the norm. Saturday and Sunday I had a huge list of things to do so that I was back on track. Did they get done? No, not really. Will they be getting done today? I hope so. I’m hoping to have another post out for you on Friday and I hope to get back to posting almost every Friday in this series. I hope everyone has been doing well. Keep an eye out on Friday for another post and info about what I’m doing for my sister for our favorite time of the year; HALLOWEEN! This whole month I have been planning and planning.
Saturday- I literally spent the majority of this day grocery shopping, and planning meals out of our pantry. It was extremely unproductive and VERY boring.
Sunday- Spent most of the day at my grandparents house. My sister got a compliment from a cute stock boy at Giant. Sunday night I got to see the begining of the super moon eclipse but then the clouds rolled in so I didn’t get to watch the whole show. 😦 I was so upset.
Monday- Today I had class. Anthropology was as boring and unstructured as always. After i got to hang out with Marissa and Pat. Not to mention there was an ice cream truck as school today. Pumpkin Ice Cream is MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. I talked to a classmate from my Spanish class and found out her husband is also a history major and is finishing up his M.A. in Military History, which is pretty cool. I also got to see the physical version of the textbook I tested for my history teacher in the spring. It’s pretty awesome. Monday was a pretty good day.
Tuesday- This was a good day.
Wednesday- Only went to one class today
Thursday-Skipped all day today because i needed a day. Twas a good day
Friday- Basically didn’t go to class at all today either because of moms car. I’ll be spending most of the day tomorrow fixing the stupid thing. This is not what I wanted to spend my Saturday doing.
Anyway guys, this week was a suck fest but next week should definitely be better. Hope everyone has a great weekend whether it be doing housework or playing around all weekend.
