Adventures in College Part 6

Hey Guys!

This week has been pretty smooth. Definitely not as hectic as this coming week is going to be. I sit here typing up this post and of course procrastinating on all three of my papers that are due this week. One due Wednesday, one due Thursday, and one due Friday. Not to mention my upcoming meeting with my advisor to sort out some concerns of mine. This past week was full of nothing but working on little things here and there and procrastination which seems to be my biggest adversary this semester. The weather has been extremely cold, wet and windy this past week and it’s in the 50’s today so we are enjoying the weather as much as possible.

Did anything happen in your life that was exciting this past week? Did you concure a fear or personal goal? Let me know in the comments. I love hearing from all of you.

XO,

Nikki

A letter to the girl with no library etiquette

To the girl in the University Library with the rather large orifice with which you speak:

Have you ever had one of those days where everyone and anyone really grates on your nerves? That seems to be how my day is going today. Usually Monday’s don’t get to me too much because i try not to let anything bring me down. (A habit everyone could benefit from many times.) It seems that today, the thing that sets me off is people who have no concept of how ridiculous they sound. You are college students, leave your high school drama packed away in the keepsake box under your bed or tucked in the back of your closet. You are here, at a relatively expensive school, spending your time in the library complaining about what this bleep did to you and how this bleep called you this or that. Honestly, the library is a safe haven for students to come and find peace and quiet away from the things in their dorm such as roommates, floor-mates, or other distractions and to get their work done. It is not a place specifically designed for you to come meet with your “friends” and complain about how you aren’t treated like the queen bee anymore like you were in High School. There are other places designed for that like the student union and the academic forum. I realize we have a coffee shop in the middle of our library, but that doesn’t mean the etiquette of using a library is null and void. Not one student that is actually here to study wants to hear about how “you’re gonna beat the sh*t out of this girl.” or how you think your on the top of the food chain but you really aren’t. Honestly, Grow up! Your gossip is not impressive and your fake bravado is lacking even more. I have sat here and watched you drive away almost every one of our fellow students in the area in order for them to get work done. Please learn some common courtesy and gossip in any area but the library and take some time to figure out who your real friends are because the people around you today were not your friends. They will eventually be the reason your mouth writes a check it can’t cash. I truly hope things get better for you while you are here at school because your future employers and fellow coworkers will not put up with the way you act.

XO,

Nikki

Have any of you had an experience like this? Where people don’t respect the quiet solitude the library affords other students? Or have you had a different experience that has really peeved you about college? Let me know in the comments. Thank you all for letting me rant.

Adventures in College Part 5

Hey Guys!

Seriously this week has been a whirlwind. I had finally gotten my laptop back last Friday and since then I have been nonstop working on homework in order to catch up with my papers and the like. Well everything was going well until this past Friday. Literally my Wi-fi capabilities on my computer are ca-putz. So I sit here hardwired to the internet not able to go anywhere else in my home but the living room in order to work more peacefully. However, it isn’t the worst thing that could have happened. I’ll just have to carry a small Ethernet cord while I am on campus and that isn’t a big deal.

I have also began a new job on campus as a note-taker, which is pretty cool. Basically I’m getting paid to be in class and provide notes for a fellow classmate. It’s a pretty nice way to make a little side cash which is always necessary in college.

Over all my week wasn’t overly exciting but still a pretty good week. How was everyone else’s? Did you have something interesting, crazy, exciting, etc. that happened in your adventures we all call life? Let me know in the comments.

XO,

Nikki

Little Hiatus Update

Hey Everyone!

So, I have been away from my blog for about a month and a half now since I posted my last post entitled Semester Organization Tips. I would like to update you about what has been going on since then. Most of the month of January was spent in quiet anticipation for new student orientation at Kutztown University. It was pretty cool but unfortunately my original schedule provided certain issues so I ended up switching some classes out and replacing them with others. I’m now starting my 5th week of the semester tomorrow and I’m extremely pleased so far. I actually spent the last 4 weeks without my laptop because my hard-drive was about to fail. It was a struggle to get through homework when I had to borrow a laptop from either my mother or sister. Needless to say, my best friend is awesome and I am extremely happy to have my computer back. On top of my computer fiascos and my mini adventures at KU, my family has been dealing with some personal issues revolving around my father. They are being taken care of and we hope that by the end of April they will be eradicated.

Coming up, I’m planning on starting my “Adventures in College” series soon. I also hope to start a new series focusing on my opinions of certain topics. I’m hoping these future posts will spur intelligent debates and discussion within the comments. I have a few other ideas that I am batting around and I will keep you all updated on future changes and posts.

As always, let me know what you think and what you want to see in the future. I look forward to getting back to writing on a regular basis.

XO,

Nikki
